Hi Vashek,

When trying your input file on my machine, I noticed two errors in the output that prevented the run from completing:

***** Next control card ***** EMFCUT -5.0000E-05 0.000 0.000 1.000 32.00 0.000
*** Invalid null photon threshold ***
Abort called from EMFCTS reason NULL GAMMA THRESHOLD Run stopped!
STOP NULL GAMMA THRESHOLD

*** Atomic electron contribution to mcs for material 3(HYDROGEN) set to 0, are you sure? ***
*** if so re-enter it as 1.E-05 and run again, if not check the manual for the ***
*** EMFCUT card, PROD-CUT, what(3), execution stopped meanwhile ***

The first item can be addressed by setting a gamma threshold for EMFCUT. I see WHAT(2) is currently empty and defaulting to 0.0, which is what is causing the run to exit.

The second item can be addressed by setting WHAT(3) to 1.0 (FUDGEM parameter), which is currently empty and defaulting to 0.0. I have noticed with the recent FLUKA 2011 v2x.# that I had to set FUDGEM to 1.0 or else the run will exit before completion. However, I do note that the FLUKA manual does clearly state: “For production and transport cutoffs larger than 100 keV it must be set = 1.0, while in the keV region it must be set = 0.0”. Perhaps someone else can clarify this more for us?

After applying these two changes to your input file (attached), a quick test run completes successfully for me. Hope this can help!

Cheers!
Taiee

Subject: [fluka-discuss]: run in Flair

Dear Fluka experts,

I am missing some elementary step when trying to run Fluka in Flair. I admit last time I did some work with Fluka was three years ago and when I tried to run a new input, it never starts and the run times out. So I tried the same with an old file I know is fine. When I run it in its original directory, it does just fine. when I rename the input to "test.inp", load it in Flair and click run (after selecting 5 in the Spawn column), I get the same result as with the new input file - no success. The output file indicates that a random seed file ../rantest_aa002 does not exist (see attached files). I watched two online videos on starting a Fluka run in Flair on Youtube, but no clue from those, some initialization step that I am missing must already been done. I would appreciate your help.
Thank you in advance,

Vashek Vylet
