Dear Fluka users

fluka2011.2x.4, a respin of fluka2011.2x, has been just released and
uploaded to the web site. This message is longer than usual and contains
critical informations, please read it to the end.

This respin addresses the following issues:

- photomuon products are now recorded inside Mgdraw
- a (very) rare crash when e+/e and photon thresholds are high
(>> 1 MeV) and equal has been fixed

The following improvements have been also implemented:

- the input file is now opened using its name exported by the rfluka
script and no longer through a pipe: please use exclusively the
   "new" rfluka provided with fluka-2011.2x-4
- a series of checks has been added in order to spot common input
inconsistencies, eg no heavy ion interaction model linked but
energetic heavy ion produced, no heavy fragment evaporation selected
but residual nuclei asked for etc etc. If you encounter one of those
checks and the code stops, please read carefully the messages in the
output and err files and correct your input accordingly. Contact the
discuss list only if you feel a given message/stop is unwarranted.
- the rounding management of the magnetic field transport has been
   improved
- heavy recoils following nonelastic interactions are now
stacked and possibly transported (see note below *)

The documentation, the manuals and the release notes, has been updated
and completed. Read in particular the parts in the manuals/release notes
related to:

- the PHYSICS/IONSPLIT option, the description was not updated to the
   fluka2011.2x status (now it is)
- the FREE format separators ("/" no longer supported)
- the part related to the #define directive, which since fluka2011.2x.0
supports assigning a value and then using it in the input cards.
Examples are available in the manuals, and also in the new
   exdefi.inp example input file

The following Files are available for various architectures/compilers:

- fluka-2011.2x-4.i686.rpm: rpm, Linux G77, both 32 and 64 bits
- fluka-2011.2x-4.x86_64.rpm: rpm, Linux Gfortran-8.2, 64 bits
- fluka2011.2x-linuxAA.tar.gz: tar file, Linux G77, both 32 and 64 bits
- fluka2011.2x-linux-gfor64bitAA.tar.gz: Linux Gfortran-8.2, 64 bits
- fluka2011.2x-linux-gfor64bit-7.3-AA.tar.gz: Linux Gfortran-7.3, 64 bits
- fluka2011.2x-mac-gfor64bitAA.tar.gz: Mac Gfortran-8.1, 64 bits
- fluka2011.2x-mac-gfor64bit-7.3-AA.tar.gz: Mac Gfortran-7.3, 64 bits

Versions for Gfortran-6.x will no longer be provided, unless there
is a really critical need for them.

As usual, assistance will be provided only for the latest respin

                The Fluka developer team

IMPORTANT WARNING: the web site, the fluka-users and fluka-discuss lists
will be down for maintenance from Sunday November 25th evening, till
Wednesday November 28th included

* Note about transport of low energy, heavy, recoils: low energy, heavy,
recoils (<< 1 MeV/n) are indeed generated by Fluka. A very low threshold
can be set for their transport in order to make accurate DPA predictions.
However neither the (electronic) stopping power, nor the multiple
scattering algorithms can describe their transport over micrometric
or sub-micrometric distances. Therefore, if one is interested on
their transport in such very small volumes they should be aware
that Fluka does not contain the physics for that purpose.
Conversely, as long as energy depositions or DPA
are of interest over >> few tens micrometers there is no issue.
