Dear Glenn,
this error message suggests that the gfortran was used to compile FLUKA is different than the one available on your system.
Running FLUKA under Windows is easily doable.
On Windows 10 - the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) works perfectly.
On older Windows versions a virtual machine or a docker container can be used.

Thanks much. That seams to be the core of the problem. I moved FLUKA into my home directly for now. make ran, it think correctly. Running the test case I got an odd error.

I think I figured out what is the problem.
You are using 'sudo make' to compile and the root user has separate environment variables than your user account.
To be able to compile as root, you need first get a root prompt with 'sudo su' then set up FLUPRO, FLUFOR and run 'make'.

These were originally set with EXPORT. I moved them into .bashrc so that they will be set all the time.
setting with export did not change the results.

The make scrip appears to be trying to use g77 to compile. I actually found a version of g77 for Ubuntu and installed it and got a different set of errors. gfortran works correctly with other test programs so I don't think that is the problem.
In the long run we will probably want to convert to a commercial licence. I could not find any information on how to do this on line.

the problem with the trial version? There should be no difference with
respect to the standard version, except that the trial version is only
running under gfortran, not it in g77.
It would be useful to know which Linux flavor you are using, and what is
the gfortran version. Next, a silly question: did you set the relevant
environment variables FLUPRO, FLUFOR (this one only if the directory name
does not contain the "gfor" string).
Finally, a screenshot of the error message can help
Converting to the standard version implies acquiring a commercial license.
In case you are interested, we can discuss this option outside the list
thread.
