Re: [fluka-discuss]: Scoring muons with different ways

Dear Tamer

Your userbin are of type "XYZ Point" and "Region" . With this choice, the
quantity scored is the number of stars produced by the selected particle
(see the manual), where star means inelastic interaction. It means, that
you are requesting the scoring of muon photonuclear reactions, which are
very unlikely...and give no information about the muon flux.
If you wish to score muon fluence, you should use the "distributed"
quantities (what(1)=10 or 11).

If you wish to compare with your boundary crossing in usermed.f, why not
using USRBDX? This will provide you the muon fluence vs. energy entering
and exiting your beam dump. USRBIN instead will give a spatial
distribution of fluence, integrated over energy.

Then: why would you need different PHYSICS for different SCORING? The
physics setting should be chosen as the best to reproduce the experimental
conditions, independently on scoring. And, if you wish to activate muon
photonuclear reactions, you should add a MUPHOTON card (PHOTONUC is for
photon induced nuclear interactions)

Hope this helps
PAola
