Dear FLUKA experts,

Thanks a lot for your kind help.

I applied FLUKAFIX card and now the Bragg curve is no more wavy.

Thanks again.

Have a nice weekend and best regards,

Qi Ding

Instead of acting on STEPSIZE, it's much better to use FLUKAFIX (maximal fractional energy loss in a step)

See the lecture at link https://indico.cern.ch/event/694979/contributions/2927124/attachments/1657653/2654330/Ionization_and_Transport_2018.pdf with particular reference at slides 55-56-57-58

I'm sure this is it. Trying adding the STEPSIZE card

STEPSIZE 1E-3 .1 [region]

That should be fine for water.

Dear all,

I am not a fluka user, I was but I went back to geant4 for other projects so cannot really comment on how fluka works properly but I have seen this shape produced in geant4 before if you do not limit the step lengths in the simulation as the higher energy protons interact less the average step length is longer and causes this shape. Might not help for fluka but could add to the discussion

Kind regards,

Tony

OK,

the plot is now attached and visible. How did you obtain this plot? I
assume we are seeing energy deposition over energy (which is the unit?
MeV? keV?). Which scorer did you use? Which beam particle?

Cheers,
