Dear Fluka experts,
I am a graduate student trying to simulate a parallel plate detector. This
detector consists of a copper coated kapton foil (60 micron thick)
functioning as a cathode, placed on top of a small 50 micron gas
amplification layer.
The principle thought behind this detector is that incident prticles would
liberate electrons inside the foil, and that a few electrons near the edge
of the foil might escape into the gas amplification layer.
The detector will be placed in a 10 GeV proton beam, I would like to
simulate the position direction and energy of electrons which manage to
leave the foil at the copper coated side.
I have 2 questions:
1. Is Fluka suitable for this simulation and is it able to handle this
energy regime, since the electrons will lose a lot of energy?
2. Is Fluka capable of simulating gas amplification as well? (If it cant
that is not a problem I could use Flukas results with other software for
the gas amplification)
Thank you for your time,
Greetings
Wout Kremers
