Now, could you please give me the output of : uname -a
I want to know exactly what distro, kernel etc you are using.

You could also download and install glibc-2.15 from here..:
ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/fedora/linux/releases/17/Everything/i386/os/Packages/g/glibc-2.15-37.fc17.i686.rpm
