As mentioned already somwhere in this list,
you have to update your binutils rpm package
to a version >=2.6 to have a new linker (ld).

I have somes machines with fedora16, fedora22 and fedora23:
they accepted the latest binutils*x86_64.rpm
in fedora26 without complaining
or need to recompile the package.

It should be the same for fedora20
Apparently there is no need to update gfortran
in this case.
