a slightly revised/updated version is available (fluka 2002.1b) for download. changes include minor
fixes and two physics improvements (extended GDR/giant dipole resonance database, updated treatment of optical
photons). Note for users of mgdraw.f: FLUKA now provides calls to new
entry points bxdraw() and eedraw() for boundary crossings (explicitly) and the end of events
respectively. should you be providing your own mgdraw.f you will have to add these two new entry points,
even if left empty at this time.
October
31 Thu )
the online manual now reflects the status of the latest release of the FLUKA package. with
the development of an almost automatic translation procedure further revisions should
be available to the users through the online manual as soon as the ASCII original.
24 Mon )
we now have an updated FLUKA package available for the SUN Unix platform.
22 Fri )an additional LINUX version is available for download. this is the result of a very
unlucky RedHat distribution philosophy which affects versions 7.0, 7.1 and 7.2 in particular.
the problem, which is centered around the shipped version of the GNU linker, is resolved
in RedHat version 7.3 and users are strongly encouraged to upgrade at least their linker.
for the time being, and intended as an interim solution, a FLUKA
library produced under RedHat 7.2 is provided. also, please note that RedHat will
discontinue support for it's version RedHat 6 at the end of this year.

new version of the FLUKA package is available for download (fluka 2002.1). at this point the new

adjustments are expected.
2002
November
19 Mon )
because new features are not debugged sufficiently at this point, the next release of
the FLUKA package was postponed. for the time being an unchanged version of the
package is available with an extended time stamp only. The anticipated next release
date is set for February 2002 (Alfredo's note).
June
12 Tue )
for both Linux and Compaq Unix there are new FLUKA packages available. they contain
minor fixes for 2 technical bugs which are mostly transparent to the user. these
are not considered an upgrade. In case of Linux however, please note:
this version was developed under RedHat 7.1 hence it will not
work for RedHat systems with an older compiler/libc combination. tf you experience
problems and would like to run on an older system, please contact
Alfredo Ferrari. it is advised though to
move to the current RedHat release since the newer version of gcc which ships
with it permits to check for array bounds and improves functionality for debugging FORTRAN
code under Linux (ie. variables contained in common blocks are accessible without patches
in gbd now). this FLUKA package seamlessly works also under Debian (Woody) and other
Linux distributions, for this matter, with a current/compatible setup of gcc/g77 and
system libraries.
