RE: [fluka-discuss]: FLUKA Run errors

Hi Mark,

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with Flupix. What I can tell you is that for the installation of a newer version of Fluka, the procedure is the same as for the first installation. My guess is that the FLUPRO variable still points to the old installation. But, given my Flupix experience, this is just a stab in the dark.

Cheers,

                             Roberto

Hi Roberto,

Thanks. I must have made an error when I downloaded the new ISO file and carried out the Installation process for FLUPIX, although I am not sure where it went wrong.
I had assumed that for an upgrade, the process would be similar to the original installation as documented in
http://www.fluka.org/content/tools/flupix/
but perhaps it is different when there is an existing installation?

Regards,
Mark

Dear Mark,

If you look at the end of the .out files you'll find that both have the following message:

  **** This version is obsolete and/or ****
**** you are not allowed to use FLUKA ****
**** Please contact the FLUKA list ****
**** or look for an updated version ****
  **** at http://www.fluka.org ****

You're simply not running with the latest version of FLUKA.

Cheers,

                          Roberto

Dear Francesco,

I am still confused by the Run problem as it is unclear whether I am actually running the correct version (although my Settings in VirtualBox show the drive as 'flupix-2011.2c-5_flair-2.3-0.iso' which I understand is the one to use).
As you suggest it appears that there is a problem with the first cycle, which then causes early termination of the whole Run.

I have looked at the files generated by the first cycle but they do not help me to find the problem.

Thanks for any advice.

Mark

Hi Mark,

that error message is commonly misunderstood. It does not imply that there is a specific problem with the random seed file, rather it just means that the first cycle did not complete successfully for any reason, hence the random seed file for the second cycle was not generated and the second cycle could not start. You should look at the content of the .err, .out, and .log files of the first cycle to search for a more meaningful diagnosis.

Still I understand you managed to happily run in a different directory.

Kind regards

Francesco
