RE: [fluka-discuss]: change binning upper value in USRBIN

Sorry, I was missing this post.

You can try to increase in flutil/gplevbin.f the respective dimensions
      PARAMETER ( MXZTA = 3000 )
      PARAMETER ( MXRAD = 3000 )
      PARAMETER ( MEMORY = 40000000 )

but at the same time do you really need so many bins and/or can focus the binning to the area(s) of interest?

Cheers
Stefan

Dear EP,

Thanks for the info.!

I have seen this in the USRBIN description before, however this is not what I am asking about! I don't even understand what is the 400 refers to? As one can set up to 3000 bins for the number of binning per axis/coordinate. Moreover, if you follow note #16 in the USRBIN description (the one that you mentioned down there) you will endup with some variable, with no numbers/values, which is impossible to change!!!

Anyways, I am still repeating my questions, in USRBIN card:

1-how one can increase the binning number for an axis/coordinate above 3000, e.g. if I have a structure with length in z- (or y- or x-) axis of 3500 cm, I cannot set NZ (or NY or NX) to 3500. It will run correctly, but it will not plot the projection on that axis, e.g. YZ, and I will get an error message saying:

At line 1200 of file gplevbin.f

Fortran runtime error: Index '3001' of dimension 2 of array 'vlrzta' above upper bound of 3000

2- how one can increase the total binning number for all axes/coordinates above 40,000,000, e.g. if I set NX= 140, NY=140 and NZ=2500, this gives total binning number of (140*140*2500)=49,000,000. Again, it will run correctly, but it will not plot correctly and I will get an error message saying:

At line 1215 of file gplevbin.f

Fortran runtime error: Index '40000001' of dimension 1 of array 'gmstor' above upper bound of 40000000

Neither of these errors are resolved when I modify the corresponding values in the gplevbin.f file, thus there should be some other way to modify these values!

Hope that I clarified my problem!

Best regards,

Tamer

16) The maximum number of binnings that the user can define is 400. This value can be changed by modifying the parameter MXUSBN in member USRBIN of the flukapro library or directory and then re-compiling and linking FLUKA.

Dear all,

In USRBIN, how can I change the default upper limit of the
axis/coordinate binning value (the default value is 3000)?

And the same question but for the overall upper limit of the binning
value for the card (the default value is 40,000,000)?

With my best regards,

Tamer Tolba
