HelloDOSE-EQ is calculated through a convolution of particle fluences and conversion factors. The standard set of conversion factors give exactly ambient dose equivalent. So: you do not need to model the icru sphere, and the conversion does not depend on the material. Of course, particle fluences will depend on the materialHope this helpsPaolaSent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

For example, if I use a tissue, does the DOSE-EQ give me the equivalent dose of that tissue?     My second question is that if I use air, is it just the so-called ambient dose equivalent? Or do I have to make my phantom an ICRU sphere of 30-cm diameter tissue-equivalent plastic following the exact definition of ambient dose equivalent?    Thank you very much!Best,Tan Shi
