I may have already sent this query; if I have, please accept my
apologies.

I have just installed FLUKA (latest release) and want to run a sample
case to verify that it is working correctly. I am running Ubuntu Linux
10.04 LTS. I chose the "simple example" described in Chapter 2 of the
FLUKA manual and carefully prepared the input script for it in emacs; I
named it pions.inp (see attached) and carefully checked it to ensure all
parameters were correct and in the appropriate columns. When I
attempted to run the script, the result was the following (copied from
the terminal):
*********************************************************************

phil_at_phil-ubox:~/flukawork/exercises/first_try$ ~/FLUKA/flutil/rfluka
-NO -M2 pions &
[1] 6255
phil_at_phil-ubox:~/flukawork/exercises/first_try$ $TARGET_MACHINE = Linux
$FLUPRO = /home/fluka/FLUKA
/home/fluka/FLUKA/libec_thihecufealw_10t.pemf
[: 187: Illegal number: O

Running fluka in /home/phil/flukawork/exercises/first_try/fluka_6255[:
329: Illegal number: O

End of FLUKA run
***********************************************************************
I can find no diagnostic message information in the manual, so I don't
know what : 329 and : 187 codes mean, or how to locate the illegal
number.

Any suggestions would be sincerely appreciated.

Regards, P.G. Loscoe
