Dear FLUKA developers,

I did not get a response about my problem (since 27 Jan 2011) as follow..

Dear FLUKA users,

I want to calculate NIEL value for 1 MeV protons on 1cm Al target.

In discussion list, there is a question and a response entitled NIEL

dimension.

There is following response available;

"NIEL-DEP in FLUKA (generalized particle 238) is just an amount of

deposited energy (the fraction of deposited energy which is not deposited

by ionization). GeV is the dimension of NIEL-DEP, which is NIEL

multiplied by fluence."

I write an input file as attachment.

After simulation, I obtained USRBIN proton fluence and NIEL-DEP values.

Than I divided NIEL-DEP by FLUENCE and obtained NIEL value.

FLUENCE=1.4498E-3

NIEL-DEP=5.5935E-7

NIEL=NIEL-DEP/FLUENCE

NIEL=5.5935E-7/1.4498E-3

NIEL=3.858E-4 (GeV unit)

NIEL=0.3858 (MeV unit)

In literature, there is a study about NIEL calculations of some materials

including Al.

NIEL(Jun et al., 2003) =0.0548 MeV-cm2/g

These results are incompatible or I am doing some mistakes in simulation

or unit conversion.

In this case, should I accept accuracy of my NIEL results ?
