Dear Andres
In the attached input, you can find an example of a cylindrical source of Tl-204. It was obtained by irradiation a Tl sample in a reactor (n capture on Tl-203). The spatial distribution (cylinder) is defined with the BEAMPOS card following the logic for cylindrical source (Hin / Hout / Rin / Rout….).

The effect (self-absorption…) of the matrix is obtained by defining a cylindrical region (with the logic for the geometry -> using a RCC) and assigning natural Tl to that region which is the matrix material in that case. It could be another matrix material if the source would be obtained by implantation for example.

So the matrix effect is taken into account during the transport after sampling of the primary particles and not in the source definition.

Cheers
Joachim

Dear Joachim,
Thanks for your answer, but i'm not reffering to the atenuations in materials around the source, i´m reffering to the the atenuation of photons into the same source i.e. self atenuation effect. Then, my question is if the extended "volume" source defined by the card BEAMPOS (CYLI-VOL,SPHE-VOL, etc), have any matrix asociated.
Thanks in advance
and Best regards.

Dear Andres,
If you define a region to which you assign your matrix material and that your extended source overlap with that region, then the effect of the matrix will be taken into account. The matrix will have the property of the material assign to the region and the primaries sampled in the volume defined with the extended source will be transported through the matrix material.
Hoping this answer your question
Greetings
Joachim

Dear all,
I have a queston about matrix effects in extended sources.
In the card BEAMPOS I defined a extended source, my question is How can i put the matrix effects?, They do exist in that card?, Do i need another card to put them?
Thanks in advance. Best regards.
