I'd like to apologize for the pretty late answer.

Picking now up your two questions:

- The PEANUT model is indeed the recommended choice (successfully benchmarked for several cases), for the time being still *to be explicitly extended by the user* above its default energy limit (5 GeV) through the indicated PHYSICS card.
Concerning the remark about *individual model* validation/benchmarking publication, this is in general (beyond the specific PEANUT example) subject to prior written permission as stated in the license. But I do not see any contradiction between this publication right limitation and the PEANUT recommendation for production calculations application-oriented.

- Photonuclear reactions. For these unfortunately the PEANUT treatment at high energy is not an option (as you might have already realized), since PEANUT is not yet instructed to deal with the interaction of the virtual vector meson with the target nucleus. This means that, despite the above mentioned recommended PHYSICS/PEATHRES extension request, they are anyway treated by the old cascade model.
