with SimpleGeo pictures like those can be created in 2D as well as in 3D with the DaVis3D plugin. You can find a complete tutorial at: http://theis.web.cern.ch/theis/simplegeo/coursematerial.htm in the file “Plugin overview” as well as in SimpleGeo’s manual: http://theis.web.cern.ch/theis/simplegeo/manual/manual2.htm in the section “DaVis3D”.
