Dear FLUKA experts,
I am a beginner of FLUKA.
I am trying to calculate the stopping power of a 290 MeV/n 12C incident on a CR-39 detector (plastic detector).
The geometry is a simple system with a rectangular target (6 * 6 * 40 cm^3, CR-39) in vacuum.
I have calculated the energy deposition (GeV/cm^3 per primary) using USRBIN.
I multiplied the result by the area (36 cm^2) of the plane perpendicular to the irradiation direction (i.e., the XY plane) and converted the units to GeV/cm per primary.
I also multiplied this by 100 to change the units to keV/um per primary.
The FLUKA results were compared with the SRIM code. FLUKA results were about three times smaller than SRIM results.
(For example, at the target entrance, FLUKA and SRIM were predicted to be 5 keV/um and 15 keV/um, respectively.)
Is there a problem with the conversion method? Thank you so much in advance for your answer.
Best regards,
C.Warisara
