PEANUT Preequilibrium-Intranuclear Cascade code is described in some detail, in particular the pion potential, and several effects ignored by most Intranuclear cascade codes (formation zone, nucleon antisymmetrization, nucleon-nucleon hard-core correlations, coherence length after elastic or charge exchange hadron-nucleon scattering). Several benchmarks are presented. Other aspects of FLUKA important for shielding design of intermediate-energy accelerators (in particular biasing) are described.

Switzerland 9-11 Oct. 1995.Ed. G.R. Stevenson, CERN Report TIS-RP/97-05 (1997), p. 158-170
FLUKA improvements in the period 1993-1995 concern: the multiple scattering algorithm (now enriched by a single-scattering algorithm at boundary crossing); the treatment of energy loss (improved ionization potential, handling of porous substances, ranging out particles below energy cutoff); PEANUT (preequilibrium model extended to 1.5 GeV, separate proton and neutron nuclear densities, shell model densities for light nuclei, anisotropy in the angular distribution of pion absorption, isobar model for pion production); fission; Fermi break-up for light nuclei; prediction of residual nuclei; Dual Parton Model generator (introduction of single chains, new chain building, new chain hadronization, 3 different kinds of diffractive events, transverse momentum selection both for chain ends and for individual partons, smeared mass distribution for resonances).
