    Sorry, I realize only now that your question was never answered completely.

    What I can say is that the situation is different according to the Linux
    release and distribution.
    For instance I am working at present on 2 different versions both from
    RedHat distribution:
    7.3 and 9.0
    On 7.3, where gcc-2.96 exists, there is no shared object like libg2c.so
    but only the static library libg2c.a
    and FLUKA links only to this.
    Instead on 9.0, where gcc-3.2.2 is at work, FLUKA loads libg2c.so.

    Since from your attachment I see that you have gcc-2.96 under a redhat
    distribution I wonder why
    you have libg2c.so and I cannot understand the reason of your problem.

    I do not believe that the following might be important in this respect,
    but I see that in your path
    you have explicitly a /usr/local/lib/libg2c.a: in the PATH definition
    only directories should be present
    and not file names.

    Unfortunately I cannot tell you anything more useful than that
