Hi Sofia,
probably you have SLC3, and you installed python using the tar.gz and not the rpm. In this case the RPM system database doesn't know anything about the installed software.
You can still force the installation by using the command
rpm -ivh --force -nodeps flair-0.3-5.noarch.rpm
What you have to make sure is that when you start flair that is using the new python you've installed as well the correct tkinter, tk/tcl libraries. Please give a look the FAQ section in the documentation on how to solve this problem.
Regards
Vasilis

I downloaded flair and tryed to install it with rpm but this is what it =
says:
[root@C4SYSDOS flair]# rpm -ivh flair-0.3-5.noarch.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
desktop-file-utils >=3D 0.9 is needed by flair-0.3-5
python >=3D 2.3.0 is needed by flair-0.3-5
tk >=3D 8.4 is needed by flair-0.3-5
tkinter is needed by flair-0.3-5
I previously installed Python 2.5 (I had Python2.2) and it seems to be =
correctly found:

and also the desktop-file-utils-0.11 (but I do not know how to check if =
I have installed it correctly - no error was given during the =
procedure).=20
Any suggestion?
thank you
Sofia Rollet
p.s. I also installed Povray which, so far, is the only one which seems =
to work since it made a nice biscuit picture.....
I am still very curious to see the flair capabilities!
