Dear Hayley,

could you check Docker's networking settings? What is the subnet address in your case?
See: https://docs.docker.com/docker-for-windows/images/settings-network.png

Thank you very much for all of your help David. Very much appreciated. Hopefully it may also help others too if they experience similar issues.

I have ensured the "No Access Control" is enabled in Xlaunch and I have left all other options untouched (as per instructions), see attachments.
So I will speak to my IT department about the firewall issues as I can't seem to find any other way.

Many thanks again
Hayley

Dear Hayley,

It is good to hear that it is working now.

For flair please make sure the Xming is launched with the "No Access Control" option enabled, and it is allowed through the firewall.
You can find help here, how you can do it with Windows 10 default firewall: https://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-10/adjust-windows-10-firewall-settings/

Every time when you run the un_win10_professional.bat file, a FLUKA "virtual machine" is created, and you can use the command line as you would with any link machine. When you finished with your work, just type "exit" in the FLUKA command line to stop the "virtual machine". If you want to start working again with FLUKA, you have to run the batch file again.

I hope this helps.

Thank you very much David - I think that has fixed the major problem. I now seem to be able to get a container, see attached.
Although the flair command is still not working for me.

It is not clear to me from the https://flukadocker.github.io/F4D/ pages, each time I want to use FLUKA (via Flair) do I run the run_win10_professional batch file? Or does this need to only be done once? Apologies if it is a daft question, I am trying to understand how this all works.

Many thanks again
Hayley

Dear Hayley,

these results show that there is a problem with the shared folder.

Could you delete the whole c:\docker folder, and make it again? Also Resetting your Credentials in the Docker Settings could help. (See the link below) https://msdnshared.blob.core.windows.net/media/2016/06/d4w-shared-drives.png

Probably you will need to reboot your machine as well.

Please let me know it it worked.

Dear David

I have tried each of the three commands, output attached.
Inbetween each case I had to do docker stop fluka command, because otherwise it said there was already fluka in use.

Command 3 did not work. Docker popped up asking to share C, which I allowed, but nothing else happens.

Thanks
Hayley

Dear Hayley,

it seems there is a problem with the shared folders or Docker's network settings.

Could you try which of the following commands works?

docker run -it --rm --name fluka --net=host f4d_fluka bash docker run -it --rm --name fluka -v fluka_home:/home/fluka f4d_fluka bash docker run -it --rm --name fluka -v /c/docker/docker_work:/docker_work f4d_fluka bash

don't worry, flair won't work this commands, I just try to find out what part of the run script fails in your case.

Dear David

Thank you very much for the swift response.
I tried the command, and I see "Welcome to FLUKA for Docker" Fluka version 2011.2x.3, flair version 2.3-0

I have attached a screengrab for your information.
I obviously still have some incorrect settings as I was unable to access flair.
This is completely new to me, so thank you for your help, and patience.

Hayley

Dear Hayley,

please try the following command:
docker run -it --rm --name fluka f4d_fluka bash

This should start the FLUKA container without network and shared folders. Please let me know, if this is working or not.

Dear David

Thank you for your email.

Yes the hello world command worked correctly and the same thing happens when I reboot the PC.
I have attached a screengrab (after another reboot) showing the hello-world command success, but the hanging of 'starting Fluka container...'.

There are still no clients attached in Xming.
I do not understand how to aces the fluka container. It seems like something is not correct.

Many thanks again for any assistance.
Hayley

Dear Hayley,

did the "docker run --rm hello-world" command work?

Does it still happen after you reboot the PC?
