Visa

Valid visa is required to enter India for all nationalities. Visa can be obtained from the nearest Indian Consulate/Embassy to you. Upon registration, a letter of invitation will be issued which can be used to apply for the visa at the consulate in your country. Please contact local organizers in case of any difficulty in this process. Since the processing may take time, all participants who wish to attend the course are encouraged to apply early. Foreign Nationals desirous of coming into India are required to possess a valid passport of their country and a valid Indian Visa. There is no provision of 'Visa on Arrival' in India and no fee is charged for immigration facilities at the airports. Foreign passengers should ensure that they are in possession of valid Indian Visa before they start their journey to India except nationals of Nepal and Bhutan who do not require visa to enter India and nationals of Maldives who do not require visa for entry in India for a period up to 90 days. More information can be found here. The Consular Passport and Visa (CPV) Division of the Ministry of External Affairs is responsible for issuance of Indian visas to the foreign nationals for their visit for various purposes. This facility is granted through various Indian missions abroad.

Please note that the process of issuing a visa may take time. Those who wish to attend the school should apply early at the nearest Indian Consulate. An acceptance letter will be mailed to the participants that can be used while applying for the visa.

Tourism and local sight seeing

Mumbai, being the financial capital of the country, is well connected by air, rail and road to all parts of India. It is the financial capital of India and is center for entertainment and night life. There are several restaurants are situated within half an hour driving distance of Anushaktinagar. Cabs are available throughout the night.

South Mumbai houses several Gothic structures such as the Prince of Wales Museum, Victoria Terminus, Bombay Municipal Corporation building etc. Gate way of India situated at the harbor was built to commemorate the 1911 royal visit of King George V and is the symbol of the city. Colaba and linking road are favorite shopping grounds.

Electrical plugs and adapters

Electrical appliances work on 230V, 50 Hz power supply in India. The electrical socket is usually of type D, but types C and M are also used. Type F used widely in Europe will also fit but without the earth contact.

Weather

Mumbai (Bombay) is expected to be moderately hot during the last week of October. Normal summer clothing is expected to suffice during the course dates. Day time temperature is expected to be around 30 degree Celsius while night fall reduces it to the vicinity of 20-25 degree Celsius. The day time humidity will be around 70-90 percent.
