Dear Fluka User,
in the last few months we have been testing a new method of running
Fluka which is independent of the operating system and also alternative
to a traditional virtual machine (as Flupix).

The new method is based on Docker, a tool that provides a uniformed
wrapper around any software package with the minimal environment
required to run it. We have prepared an updated Docker image with
Fedora 28 that allows to run Fluka and Flair easily on any OS (Linux,
Windows, MacOS).

Scripts and instructions for installation and running are on github
at the following link (accessible also from the Fluka official website):

https://flukadocker.github.io/F4D/

These scripts download the image and ask for your fuid and password,
so that (for authorized users) the full installation of the latest
Fluka public version (2011.2x-2) is performed automatically.

The primary goal is to allow the use of Fluka on Windows 10 machines.
On MacOS and Linux the use of a native installation is highly encouraged
and Docker should be used in these OS-es as a fallback method.
Also it is only suitable for personal machines, not clusters, as it
requires admin/root privileges to run.

We would like to invite you to use this new way of running Fluka and
to let us know in case of problems, errors or questions. Support will
be provided through the fluka-discuss list.

Kind regards,
The Fluka team
