Dear Mr Arif Efendi,

1) I may be wrong and the particle experts in the mail list can correct me, but at these relative short distances and relative low energies (up to 18 MeV) the effect of gravity will be negligible. So you can choose whatever axis to be your vertical direction.

2) can you see the generated usrbin file in the folder you run your simulation? If yes, by pressing scan button in flair it should find it.
Bin is for binary, and ascii is a readable file the difference is the size, with computer scripts you can read both but for you to read it needs to be in ascii.

3) here is the link to the courses website (http://www.fluka.org/fluka.php?id=courses&sub=ALL&mm2=1) have a look there.

Best wishes
Thiago

Dear Mr. Thiago Viana Miranda Lima,

Thank you so much for your kind reply.

1) but what the vertical direction in FLUKA? z axes or y axes? and is that fluka use gravity calculation for simulate?

2) I already use USRBIN card, but didn't found the data when try to merge it (I attach the picture). I use 21 bin. can you explain to me about BIN and ASC in unit?

3) Can you send to me the courses materials (pdf) that related to DICOM? I use the latest FLAIR but didn't found the DICOM

I attach in this email my .flair and .inp files

Best Regards

Subject: Re: [fluka-discuss]: Geometry axes and output of FLAIR

Dear Mr Arif Efendi,

Answering your questions:

1) The orientation you can chose whatever you want as you can define the orientation of the beam and it should follow the same as the linac head.

2) What you are looking for is a card called usrbin, but I would suggest you to have a look at the manual for how to use the card. And another suggestion is to look at past courses materials as it will examples of interesting tools that you may want to use for example importing DICOM files to fluka and visualising then. There should also have information on visualisation of usrbin with flair.

Best wishes
Thiago

Dear FLUKA expert,

My name is M. Arif Efendi.
I'm studying in prince of songkla university at nuclear physics.

I will use FLAIR for my research.
My research is simulation of photon dose in medical LINAC.
I am quite new fluka user.

I have two questions for my problem.
First questions is about geometry axes in fluka. I want to simulate the head of linac.
The beam start in the top and come to the bottom (vertical direction).
I make in my simulation geometry that it use z direction. Is that correct to define the vertical direction as z axes?
I attach in this email my .flair and .inp file.

The second questions is how to see the output file and scoring the dose in flair?
I want to get the plot about relative percent dose as the distance (cm) and percentage depth dose as depth (cm).

Your help is really my expectation.

Best Regards
M. Arif Efendi
