Hi,
For example, you can send your beam in the y direction using the following line
BEAMAXES 0.0 0.0 1.0 0.0 1.0 0.0
Put in the Beamaxes the geometry coordinates of your x and z beam coordinates (whats 1-2-3 for x, and 4-5-6 for z). In the case above, this means that the beam x-axis is in the z direction of the geometry. And my beam z-direction (where the beam is going) is towards the y-axis of the geometry (in other words I’m sending the beam towards y).
Your example did not work because the first 3 BEAMAXES whats were zero so there was an undefined vector. I think in that case the BEAMAXES card is neglected, but maybe someone can confirm
Cheers
Philippe

Subject: [fluka-discuss]: Orientation of beam w.r.t. geometry
Allo all,
I have a geometry comprising of beam in the Z-plane at a distance of 10cm from my detector. I wish to carry out simulations for two cases:
1. Beam parallel to the geometry
2. Beam perpendicular to the geometry.
I am suing the BEAMAXES card to orient the beam w.r.t he detector. I have the cards from the two cases below:
A. For the first case i.e. beam parallel to the detector (cosine angle =0 deg):
* Define the beam characteristics
BEAM -0.01 -0.0 -0.0 1.41 1.41 NEUTRON
* Position of beam
BEAMPOS 0.0 0.0 -10. 0.0 0.0
BEAMAXES 1.0
B. For the first case i.e. beam parallel to the detector (cosine angle = 90 deg):
* Define the beam characteristics
BEAM -0.01 -0.0 -0.0 1.41 1.41 NEUTRON
* Position of beam
BEAMPOS 0.0 0.0 -10. 0.0 0.0
*NO BEAMAXES CARD
Am I doing it right?
Help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Cheers,
Shri
