    Dear Denis,

our group in Seibersdorf already did many comparisons between FLUKA and
GEANT codes for thin Si layers.=20

We also found differences between FLUKA and GEANT (up to 60% for photon
    sources below 100 keV) using GEANT4 7.1. Using GEANT4 8.3 (and Penelope
physics in it) the agreement is much better.=20

It seems that GEANT changed quite a lot the standard electromagnetic
    physics between GEANT4 7.1 and GEANT4 8.3.

Hence, we would strongly advice you to use a more recent version of
    GEANT.
(the latest one, GEANT4 9.0 is available at
    http://geant4.web.cern.ch/geant4/support/download.shtml)

    Best regards,
    Sofia Rollet

    Dear User,
I am comparing results for Energy deposition in Fluka and Geant3 for
thin layer of Silicon ( typically 400 micrometer ).
I found out that Fluka results ( using USRBIN ) give systematically
20% to 30% lower energy loss in Silicon that Geant3.
I use the recommended algorithm for the energy loss calculation
    (apportioning track length algorithm ).
May some specific settings have to be included in my input file
in order to cope with thin layer.=3D20
    Any help is welcome !=3D20
                                      thanks in advance.=3D20
