Dear mjm,
a different material can be assigned to a region for the decay phase, however, as of now, only
VACUUM or BLACKHOLE are allowed (see ASSIGNMA card in the manual and note 5).

I guess that a two-step method can be used, maybe someone in the list that has already used this technique
can be better guide you.
