Dear Mahmoudreza,

You have to ask your system administrator to adjust the permissions (as the messages says, you don't have the rights to change permissions in that directory).

Cheers, Anton

Dear Mahmoudreza,

there are two solutions to this problem.

1.) You can install FLUKA in your $HOME directory, or

2.) Set the permissions for the /user/local/flukagfor folder and files within to enable access by a non root user. To do this use the following commands:

cd /usr/local/flukagfor
sudo chmod -R a+rX *

Hi Mahmoudreza,

the correct package name for option 2 should be fluka2011.2x-linux-gfor64bit-6.4-AA.tar.gz.

Sorry for the mistake.

Dear Mahmoudreza,

Unfortunately you can't mix packages from different versions of Fedora. So it is not possible to install gfortran 8 from the packages on Fedora 24.

There are 5 options for you:

1.) Install the g77 version of FLUKA - (fluka-2011.2x-3.i686.rpm), this should work on Fedora 24 with the package: compat-gcc-34

2.) Install FLUKA compiled for gfortran 6.4 (fluka2011.2x-linux-gfor64bitAA.tar.gz). The instructions how to install from a tar file is in the FLUKA manual.

3.) Compile gfortran 8 from the source.

4.) Upgrade your OS to Fedora 28. If you are using this machine as a normal PC, you definitely should consider upgrading, because Fedora 24 is not supported anymore, and won't get any security updates. If it is just a virtual machine, a fresh install of Fedora 28 is much easier than upgrading.

5.) If this is a virtual machine, and the Windows is installed to the machine as the host OS, you can try the Docker version of FLUKA.

Subject: [fluka-discuss]: installing fluka-2011.2x-3.x86_64 on fedora 24?

Dear FLUKA support team,
I am installing fluka-2011.2x-3.x86_64 in fedora24.
during installation of the rpm package the following error has ocurred:
Detailed errors from the package manager follow:

Could not depsolve transaction; 1 problem detected:
0. nothing provides libgfortran.so.5()(64bit) needed by fluka-2011.2x-3.x86_64

I tried to install libgfortran-8.1.1-5.fc28.x86_64.rpm<https://fedora.pkgs.org/28/fedora-updates-x86_64/libgfortran-8.1.1-5.fc28.x86_64.rpm.html>, which to the best of my knowledge, includes ibgfortran.so.5()(64bit), on my computer.
But, unfotunately, the following error has ocurred:
Detailed errors from the package manager follow:

Could not depsolve transaction; 1 problem detected:
0. nothing provides libm.so.6(GLIBC_2.27)(64bit) needed by libgfortran-8.1.1-5.fc28.x86_64
I tried more effort to install ibm.so.6 om my computer through terminal by dnf install ibm.so.6
again, the following problem has happened:
[root_at_mahmoudreza<mailto:root_at_mahmoudreza><mailto:root_at_mahmoudreza><mailto:root_at_mahmoudreza>> ~]# dnf install libm.so.6
Last metadata expiration check: 0:17:59 ago on Fri Aug 17 06:18:17 2018.
Package glibc-2.23.1-12.fc24.i686 is already installed, skipping.
Dependencies resolved.
Nothing to do.
Complete!
[root_at_mahmoudreza<mailto:root_at_mahmoudreza><mailto:root_at_mahmoudreza><mailto:root_at_mahmoudreza>> ~]#

please let me know, should I upgrade my fedora24 to fedora28 for not encountering these problems?
Regards,Mahmoudreza

Hello Dear Horváth
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I'll try the fourth option.
Since I am using this machine as a normal PC, I prefer to upgrade my OS.
Can't thank you enough
Best Wishes,
Mahmoudreza

Dear Horváth,
Since I am worry about losing my computer data during upgrading the Fedora 24(I have a doual boot system containing Windows 7 and fedora 24), I have done your second recommendation (2.Install FLUKA compiled for gfortran 6.4 (fluka2011.2x-linux-gfor64bitAA.tar.gz). The instructions how to install from a tar file is in the FLUKA manual.)
I installed the latest version of FLUKA and
flair(fluka2011.2x-linux-gfor64bit-6.4-AA.tar.gz, flair-2.3-0.noarch.rpm). After typing /usr/local/flukagfor/flutil/ldpmqmd in the terminal, unfortunately, the following error has occurred.
bash: /usr/local/flukagfor/flutil/ldpmqmd: Permission denied
Could you please tell me what the problem is?
Regards,
Mahmoudreza

Dear Horváth,<https://www.fluka.org/fluka.php?id%C5%B9c_info>
I have tried your second recommendation but unfortunatly the following error has occured. I don't know what it means. Would you please explain the concept of this report?

[mrakbari2012_at_mahmoudreza ~]$ cd /usr/local/flukagfor
[mrakbari2012_at_mahmoudreza flukagfor]$ sudo chmod -R a+rX *

We trust you have received the usual lecture from the local System
Administrator. It usually boils down to these three things:

#1) Respect the privacy of others.
    #2) Think before you type.
#3) With great power comes great responsibility.

mrakbari2012 is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported.
[mrakbari2012_at_mahmoudreza flukagfor]$ /usr/local/flukagfor/flutil/ldpmqmd
bash: /usr/local/flukagfor/flutil/ldpmqmd: Permission denied
Kind Regards,
