Subject: Re: [fluka-discuss]: Suppresing geometry echo when using VOXEL

Dear Thomas

You can suppress the geometry echo by redirecting it to a scratch file named
geom.scr.
In the GEOBEGIN card, set WHAT(4) so that it points to a unused output unit.
Add a line immediately after the GEOBEGIN card containing the name of the
geometry output file. If you set it to geom.scr, it will be automatically
deleted by the rfluka script at the end of each cycle.

The .out file will still be large, since it contains the echo of the organs
properties and energy depositions in each region. This cannot be suppressed.
The main purpose of the output file is to check and verify the correctness of
how Fluka interprets the commands in the input file.
Furthermore the output file also provides useful information about physical
quantities,
e.g. energy depositions in regions, cross section data, probability of certain
processes, etc...

However, if you have already checked the correctness of your input file,
and you wish to run your simulations with many cycles and high statistics,
causing too large files for your computer's memory capacity,
you may consider to cancel the output files,
keeping eventually only one file, in case you need to check something in the
future.

Regards
