Re: [fluka-discuss]: Time problem with Li-6 pointwise crossection

Dear Vladimir
the increase in computimg time comes from optical photons generated by
the products of the (n,Li6) reaction.
In the case of groupwise cross section the corresponding energy is
deposited as kerma, and is not converted in optical photons. The reason
is that in most cases the kerma is carried by very low energy recoiling
nuclei, which are mostly non-ionizing.
This should have been documented in the manual, apologies, it will be.
Just a warning: if your material includes natural lithium, and you need
pointwise cross sections for it, you need to define natural lithium as a
compound from lithium6 and lithium7. Otherwise, you'll get a very
enriched lithium composed totally from lithium6
MATERIAL          3. 0.534                            6.LITHIU-6
MATERIAL          3. 0.534                            7.LITHIU-7
MATERIAL 0.534                              LITHIUMC
COMPOUND    7.5       LITHIU-6     92.5 LITHIU-7
LITHIUMC
Hope this helps
Paola
