RE: [fluka-discuss]: RE: Increasing ICOMAX

Hi Paola,

The services at each module will have a different material composition since some components will be the same for each module (e.g., HV, LV, cooling lines if in series) whereas other components will build up (e.g., data lines in parallel). The engineers give me information as this module has this mass + composition of services, which is what I then implement.

Cheers,
Paul

Hi
sorry if I enter in this,
"for one pixel layer there are 30 modules in z" means that each module is different with respect to material composition?

However, reality is that the services increase as each module is added to the chain (i.e., the services for each additional module requires a separate MATERIAL), and elemental composition of the services varies (i.e., each MATERIAL requires separate COMPOUNDs). As an example, for one pixel layer there are 30 modules in z (assuming phi-symmetry), each with 3 COMPOUND cards (7-9 elements per material). Then there are 5 pixel layers + 4 strip layers (+ 6 strip disks, each with ~20 rings of modules), and the numbers multiply quite quickly.

This problem arose when I had implemented half of one additional detector, and there are at least two more additions to come. I assume that I need to complete the request form to have access to the source code.

The max number of compounds/mixtures is presently 2400, which is already a lot. Do you really need more?
